X-Ray and Film Damage

Having recently returned from a 3 week break in Madagascar I was dissapointed to find that the prints from at least 40 of the 80 rolls of film that I shot had white marks around the edges. During my trip I passed exposed and unexposed film through approx 30 X-ray machines - (I know this is unadvisable - but no matter how I protested there was no avoiding it!). The shots that I took towards the end were unmarked suggesting that X-ray damage was more severe to exposed film.

So this does not happen again - and based on the fact that Madagascar has very few developers and only one Fuji lab on the island - has anyone got any advice on how to either convince customs to not screw-up my hard earned shots or if packages sent from overseas will be X-ray'd?

On the otherhand I also have some excellent wildlife shots (lemurs, frogs & lizards) - anyone know the best place to start marketing them - seems a crime to keep them to myself (except the copywrite of course:).

Thanks
