It all depends. Some film keeps very well. I've used Kodak Royal Gold 25 that was over ten years old, and stored without refrigeration, in very poor conditions (I didn't know I had it, and it spent a lot of time in the hot (like an attic) upstairs stored with some other stuff). When I had it processed, the prints looked great, as good as "new" film would have done.
