I would numerically number each folder. Like make the first folder 001_024. That will indicate the file names of the photos so that they will correspond to the thumbnails. You will then know that you have photo number 001 to photo number 024 in that particular folder. Then print a thumbnail page using Photoshop for a visual reference guide. Don't use any more than 24 photos per folder. You may want to use less. The more photos you save in a folder, the smaller the thumbnails will be.
