Had my mind set on my first SLR purchase - The Canon Eos 30 with the Canon 28 - 105 mm lens. Was especially interested in the eye-control focussing for action shots (which is where I have had trouble with my current Pentax point-and-shoot - focus lock just does not work well in those scenarios)
That was until the local photo shop informed my that they were running a special on the Eos 5 with the same 28 - 105 mm lens for the same price as the EOS 30.
Now being a newbie to the world of SLR photography, I am stuck, and would therefore like to put my dilemma to the more experienced on this forum. From analysing the technical specs of the two cameras, it is clear to me that, whereas the Eos 30 is a mid-range camera focussed on the non-professional, the Eos 5 is more of a professional camera, featuring eg a wealth of different light-measuring options and algorithms. But the Eos 5 does not feature eye-control autofocus.
What are your opinions on the relative attractiveness of the two cameras? Obviously there would be differences in physical design, design materials etc which would play a role as well. Thanks for the help. Regards, Faker
