The Mystic plant closing was announced in November 2002 and didn't occur until January 3, 2003. There were articles in the local Connecticut newspaper, The Day, all through the closing period. Over 100 people in Mystic, Conn. lost their jobs, with the plant closing.

The Swiss company that had owned Mystic sold them to the District/Clark family of processors. District/Clark bought market share, by closing out Mystic and also bought a slightly higher rate structure. I am sure they would like you to believe that Mystic is still around, and have you pay the higher prices for their processing.

This is very unfortunate for the former Mystic employees. On the other hand, ever wonder why more people are unemployed around the world and why the quality of products aren't as good as they used to be? Well, this sort of thing goes on every day, so welcome to the real world!
