: :OK the bill is so far $1010,000 to be deposited in my Swiss bank account the ID for this account is : Mr.Knowall # 120657432195-8543-918543 (huge
: grin). As to your comment that you ask to many questions, if nobody ever asked one this forum would not exsist ! As I say to my customers in the store there are no stupid questions, I, on the other hand have a millon stupid answers !! ( chuckle ) By the way, the way you write in English is often more correct than we write it !! I am English by birth but now live in Florida USA (hiding out)(wink, wink) Also remember we do not have to answer anyone
: so as to over using this board? thats impossible, more questions the better.
: Anyway back to the old Retina, it does sound as if you have an iris problem. at this stage of the game you have nothing to lose so see if you can open up the lens, it's all or nothing now anyway. I suspect it's the same problem as
: the shutter, gummed up blades, If you can get the lens stopped down then you need to give it the same cleaning as you did the shutter blades. As to the amount of time you have spent trying to fix this camera what would you do with your evenings if you were not doing this? Something bad for you, go out driving fast cars and chasing women, this is much more fun !! ( moster
: grin )
: Regards Mikeb.

: Ok, ok... I am using this forum too much, I admit. But where else would I find such help here in Brazil? (Yes, I live in Brazil). I am sorry for boring you friends so much, and you are free to charge me... Well Mikeb, I set the shutter to B and fired, and the diaphragm didn't closed at any setting, so I believe it is not normal. I know that probably this camera is not worth all this work, but I was really amazed by the good cosmetic condition and the superb feeling of handling it when it reached me here in Brazil, and that's why I try to fix it. (by the way, if my english is not that good, remember I am not an english speaking guy).
: : : :I am start charging you for all this tech.support (grin) You probably don't
: : : have a problem. Your camera has auto stop
: : : down system. The iris is always wide open
: : : for veiwing, As you push the shutter a small
: : : pin closes down the iris to your pre selected
: : : setting, if this where not so then as you stopped
: : : down the viewfinder would get darker and darker
: : : until it was impossible to frame and focus. Just
: : : mount the lens back on the camera open the back set shutter to B hit the release look through the lens and see if the lens stops down, If it does stop worrying about and get shooting !!

: : : Thanks again to Mikeb and Jon. Another problem with that Retina, that seems to be ok cosmetically but not mechanically. Difficulty with a Signet 40 also.
: : : : Well, I have this Retina Reflex (first model) that I just bought at ebay. There was a minor problem with the shutter (sticking blades) that was resolved with the advice from Mikeb. While checking the result of the cleaning, I noticed that the diaphragm was wide open, but the set ring was showing f11. Well, the problem is that the diaphragm is not working, stays wide open in all settings of the ring and I don’t know if it can be fixed. I have a manual with exploded views and service hints, but have no idea of what to do.
: : : : By the way, I also have a Kodak Signet 40 that I am cleaning. It’s a rather simple model of shutter and with some tips from the internet I could clean it without great pain. Nonetheless, while trying to open the top plate to clean the rangefinder, I had to stop at a screw. It was under the rewind lever, which I could not take off to reach that screw. I tried to hold the shaft while turning the crank counterclockwise, but that doesn’t seem to work.
