Unless you can use the zoom lens like it is, you might as well set it out for the trash man. Lens disassembly & assembly is best left to professionals. The cost to have it done will be far greater than the value of the lens. You should be able to find a good used mid-range zoom on eBay for less than $40. Another place to check is KEH Camera (largest used camera equipment dealer in the world).
