My camera is a 35mm Canon AE-1 Program. I want to attach a 50mm lens with with the aperture ring set to the "A" mark. This works fine, but when I attempt to attach extension rings to the lens, it won't accept them. Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem. I know I can use a light meter to set the aperture, but I would prefer to use the "A" setting if possible.

The extension tubes you're using aren't coupled. You need to get a set that are meter-coupled (FD).
