Ah................
Here we go, Brand versis brand! You will get all kinds
of answers to this depending on which system the person
answering uses themselves! Here a dealers view. I do not
even own a "personal" camera. If I need to take pictures
I grab whatever I have in stock. Reason? Any old thing
will make good pictures assuming it is functioning correctly
and has a decent lens because cameras do not "take" photographs
people do ! Equipment freaks rarely take "good" photographs
as I have learnt over the years. They are so wrapped up in
the mechanics of producing an image they forget to watch
for the content of that image. A pin sharp perfectly exposed
photograph that does not "speak" to the viewer is a bad image.
Forget the equipment, think about what you will produce with
it ! A basic understanding of the photographic process will
get you a lot further than any "advanced" camera. So theres my
take on it. As to your question I guess I should put in my 2
cents worth. Pentax against Nikon, both will perform well enough
in the right hands. Pentax has little to no residue value (second
hand value) So if you decide to change later then your investment
will be gone. Nikon, highest residue value, if you trade later
you will get a reasonable price for it. After sales service? Nikon
by a mile! So you pay your money and take your choice.
