:If the camera is in EXCELLENT condition you have a fairly valuable camera. The focus screen is not the lens, it lies above and behind the lens at the top of a mirror angled at 45 degrees. The Data strip is in the back door of the camera being literarly a strip inserted to print Data onto the film much like a manual version of current data backs on modern cameras that print date, time or whatever onto the film. My advice would be, don't mess with the camera, it is a fairly complicated peice and expensive if not impossible to repair as parts are no longer avalable. If your not a "camera buff" you may well damage it trying to figure it all out. Go to a reputable local camera store {not K-mart or Wall Mart.) but a good old fashioned store run by the owner and get advice before going further.

I have recently inherited this camera and after looking on the internet, I see that it is the Zeiss contarex bullseye camera. From what I can find out, it seems that there's 2 versions of this camera but I don't know which one I have. I found the following:
: The Bullseye was available from 1959-66. After 1964, they feature a few changes, the most important being the interchangeablity of focusing screens, and the data strip, for recording data onto the film as you expose it. Both versions are code 10.2401.

: When they say focusing screens are they referring to the lens? How do I tell if it's interchangeable - I have no manual and don't want to break the lens trying to remove it. Also, what is the data strip and where would I find it? Where do I find the code? Probably pretty basic questions for you camera buffs, but I can't even find how to load the film in this camera. An instruction manual would be helpful, but I need to know what camera I have first. Any help is appreciated and if you know a site where I can get a manual, I would appreciate that as well. Any idea what this is worth?

: I got the info from this site http://www.pacificrimcamera.com/pp/zeiss/contarex/bullseye.htm

: Thank you so much!
