: Marcia,
: I assume that your husband bought the camera WITHOUT a zoom (ie. say, with a 50mm f1.4 standard lens). If this is the case, your best choice would either be the 28-105mm AF-D, or the 24-85 AF-D, however the latter may be above your price range - I don't know the prices where you are.
: Both of these are compatible with the F80 and will give a good 'standard' zoom range.
: The only problem is if he bought the camera with a zoom similar to one of the above, and he simply wants a complimentary zoom in the telephoto range - maybe you could post what lens he already has?
: Regards,
: Mark
: : I am a camera idiot who wants to buy my husband a great lens for his birthday. He just bought a Nikon N80QD. I can spend up to $400. He has mentioned wanting a zoom lens. What do you think?
Marcia:
I will agree that the 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D AF Zoom-Nikkor is a very good all-around lens and it has a rebate.
You are a caring wife, he will appreciate it.
Have a great time :-)
