Rick is correct. A lot of times I have to scan the negative so I can make my own prints (digitally). Machine processed prints can be totally different than what you'd expect. Machines can't read your mind, and they will automatically "push" a print to achieve what the machine thinks is a good exposure. This is my biggest gripe about machine processed prints. I just felt like adding my 2 cents worth.
