: My grandmother has contacted me asking to find any information I could on a collection of media known as Stereoscotic Atlas of Human Anatomony by David L. Bassett, M.D. Copyright 1952 of Sawyer's Inc. I was doing a google search for Saywer's Inc. when this forum appeared and there was a responce to someone's inquiry about a Sawyer's Inc. product. We do know that Sawyer's Inc. is now part of the Mattel Corporation, but despite our searches for further information we could not find any. My grandmother desires to know what the value of this collection is if any. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
It's very difficult or impossible to find information on the web when you don't spell the words correctly.
Sawyer's Stereoscopic Atlas of Human Anatomy by David L. Bassett, M.D. was first published in 1952 and consisted of 221 View-Master reels. It was later reprinted as a hard cover book by Robert A. Chase, M.D. which included 12 View-Master stereo reels of human dissections. The reprint goes for $95 at the time of this writing - July 2002. See ( http://www.berezin.com/3d/viewmast.htm ) for more information.
Similar information can be found here ( http://www.stereoscopy.com/3d-books/view-master-books.html )
If your grandmother has the original Atlas with the 221 View-Master reels, it would likely be worth ten times what the abridged reprint sells for. Best candidate for buyer would be a medical doctor.
