None of the mentioned ideas you have will result in satisfactory results. If you're serious about scanning slides, nothing but a transparency and film scanner made for this purpose will give good results. Adapters on flatbed scanners also result in less than satisfactory results.
Most film/slide scanners are very expensive, but there is one
that gives good results that isn't real expensive. It is the
"PrimeFilm 1800U". B&H has this scanner for about
$180. You can find it cheaper on eBay (new). See link below.
