>> I recently acquired an object that I have no idea what its use can be. Written on one end is Eumig Austrovar 14/15-25, at the other end is a small viewing aperture. It is a lens about 3 inches long, it has a sliding piece in the middle that must be for focusing. I can't see how it can be attached to any photographic equipment or a telescope (which is what I thought it was for initially). I can't focus on anything through it either. I hope someone can quench my curiosity.
Eumig is a defunct Austrian manufacturer of movie cameras, movie projectors and radios. What you have is either a lens to a movie camera or projector. The numbers suggest some zooming ability. If you can read German, there is the Eumig Museum web site http://members.nusurf.at/pandreas/eumig-museum/
