Just wondered if anyone knows who was the primary maker of these lenses?
I have the Sun 28-80mm and the Starblitz 24mm. I suspect both were made late 70's or early 80's in various manual camera mounts. I have the first in MD and the other in screwmount.
I've read that there was a Sun Company in Japan, but can't find any references to it, even on the third part lens site--although someone said in a letter that the Spiratone people claimed that their lenses were made by Sun.
I suspect the maker of both of my lenses is the same, because the lettering on the rim is basically the same on both lenses. Both of the lenses (made in Japan) were very cheap, but the quality is suprisingly good--pretty sharp at the edges. Absolutely no lens flare, either--great multi coated lenses. This is important in any wide lense, because you can't use regular filters on the 24, without distortion and lens shades for either of the lenses have to be so short as to render them all but useless. The box for the zoom touts CAD (computer aided design) meaning I guess, that it was cranked out of a machine--who cares, good quality photos are the result.
Starblitz is known more for their flashes. If anyone has any insight, thanks!
