Having been given a cheap digital camera for my 18th birthday last year my interest in photography has been reawakened. However though small, light, portable and convenient for getting images onto my PC, I desire a proper manual camera with knobs and buttons, that doesn't automatically mess my pictures up and I'm looking for a lense that is less restrictive.

Looking through online auctions I have noticed the following and wanted to ask the opinions of people with better knowledge of the field.

I have no experience with SLR photography myself,...yet. Are there any of the below cameras which shouldn't be touched with a barge pole or hidden gems?

I have looked around online articles a little to get a feel for the subject but i was hoping other people might be able to shed more light.
