: : I have been reading about the Vivitar 283 having a high voltage. My 283 was made in Japan with a seriel # 584 3778. I'm using the Konica FS-1 and am wondering if this camera is considered an electronic camera. Will using this model of flash harm my FS-1?
: Several web sources state that any Vivitar 283 marked "Made in Japan" is a high trigger voltage unit, while those marked "Made in China" are low trigger voltage units.

: The Konica FS-1 was manufactured from 1979 to 1982 so your camera should be fine with the Vivitar 283. For more information on the Konica FS-1, visit Tim Hobson's Konica SLR User's Page. http://www.thatinternetaddress.com/photo/konicaslr/ (hyperlink below)
Thank you for your input. I have had many ideas of the use of the Vivitar 283, and most talk about using it with a AF camera, were most of the damage can occur using a high voltage flash. I still don't know if the Konica FS-1 falls into this catergory since it isn't a AF camera.
