I have had really good luck with Tamrons. Tamron is one of the better "aftermarket"
lens makers. I'm sure they probably aren't as good as "Nikkors", but they are a good compromise if your budget doesn't allow for the Nikon lenses. Usually a 35-200 lens isn't a good choice. A lot of the "general-purpose" zooms just aren't up to snuff. You might be better off with a 100-300 or a 70-300. Check out the link and see if you can find reviews on the lenses you're interested in. GOOD LUCK!
