Recently I have been having some problems shooting black skin tones. I wondered if anyone had any advice about films I could use. Currently I am using Agfapan 100, exposing in at 50 and generally overexposing a stop beyond that. I am blowing out my backgrounds so I am only concerned about skin tones. Also, does anyone know what film type Avedon used for his American West series. I am aware it is 8x10, but was it kodak, agfa?
Further what film type did Mapplethorpe generally use in the studio?

Thanks
Casey
