: I just had my brand new mini dv camcorder stolen and have been forced to again start using the old ccd-v8af camera. Well after I got new batteries and got it started and put in a new tape it got jammed. Then when it finally ejected, it ate the tape. This happens everytime I put a new tape in there. What do I do?
Sorry for your misfortune.
The camcorder that eats tape will have to be seen by a professional. Something, a gear wheel, a belt, is not turning and that's why the tape is being sucked into the gears. Unfortunately camcorder repair is not inexpensive. The most expensive place to have it fixed would be the manufacturer's service center.
I don't know of any camcorder repair shops in Boone, North Carolina. You might check Morgantown Camera & Video Repair in Hanover, West Virginia. They have a toll free number. http://www.mcvr.com/
