Does anyone know of an outfit that produces an "instant" photograph in a postcard format? I hazily remember seeing one in Key West some years back. It's a tropical island business fantasy thing. Thanks.
Editor's Note: Just to show you how old I am, I remember a photographer who used to stand at Powell and Market Streets in San Francisco and snap photographs of the tourists, giving them a slip to order their photos by mail when they got home from their vacation. The year was 1967 and I was just out of high school. Those were the days. :-)
Polaroid owned the franchise on instant photography (until digital cameras arrived), therefore whatever you saw in Key West had to involve Polaroid film. My guess is after the Polaroid photo was snapped, the photographer used a self adhesive card which he mounted the Polaroid picture on. The other side of the card was printed with the standard postcard design. He probably did it so fast, you never paid attention to what he was doing. Many years ago Kodak made sensitized postcard stock which black and white pictures could be printed on, processed, addressed and mailed.
Today, all these instant photography concessions in tourist destinations are all using digital cameras and high speed printers. Is it any wonder that Polaroid is now in bankruptcy.
