Conventional vs. Digital

I plan on purchasing a Nikon F5 for weddings and personal use. The way Digital photography is progressing, would it be wise to purchase a Digital camera instead of the Nikon F5? I see some very impressive pictures taken by medium end digital cameras. The processing time via computer along with adobe photoshop really cuts doown the time spent in the darkroom. How long before the conventional cameras are put on the shelves and only used recreationally?
