: I am fairly new to digital printing and would be gratefull for any help with the following problem.
: I am getting reds in the shadows and dark areas of my prints. The prints look great in every other respect.
: I'm using Photoshop5LE to prepare pics scanned from 35mm negs using a Nikon coolscan4 ED and the printer is an Epson1290.
: Thanks guys...Happy new year.
First, make a straight scan, adjust nothing, and print. If the red resists in shadow area's then your scanner needs recalabrating. If the red is not there in uncorrected images then your screen calibration is wrong. Over correcting scanned images causes problems. Remember, all good scans come from good negatives, not all exposure or poor lighting problems can be corrected digitly
without a lot of practice and some understanding of color therory.
