Several years ago i purchased a new camcorder. I packed up the Sony CCD-F401(it was working fine) and stored in a closet. Now I would like to send it away to school with my daughter. When powered up with a tape in it and set to VTR, the view finder shows a symbol that indicates the tape has moisture. It doesn't matter what tape is used. All show the same. When set to Camera, the view finder remains blank.
Is there something simple to check? Is there any chance it can be repaired for a reasonable cost? Is it worth giving to Goodwill for them to repair and resell?
