You might be better off getting a camera like a Minolta SRT series. Cameras such as the Minolta SRT-101, 102, and 202 were very tough cameras with wide-open metering. They are very common on eBay, and lenses are plentiful as the newer MD series Minolta lenses work fine on them. There are other cameras that are rugged too, such as Nikkormats. Don't be stuck with a camera that you have to get screw mount lenses for. You'll find that viewfinders are much brighter with cameras like Nikon & Minolta making focusing much quicker and easier. Pentax and other "Praktica mount" cameras were quality cameras limited by the ancient screw mount. The SLR screw mount was the first used on SLR cameras. They were invented (for SLRs) by Pentacon in Germany, and first used on the Praktica SLR 35mm cameras.

Editor's Note: The person asked about the Pentax ME Super, made in the mid 1980's. Why would you recommend a camera made in 1970? The Pentax ME Super does NOT use screw mount lenses.
