It can most likely be repaired . the flexing of the flat wire inside the lens assy(there are two flat cables one of which runs the shutter and reads the film type installed)breaks and the microcontroller cannot read the correct position .
if your camera runs and gives bizzar exposure the second cable maybe breaking also. It appears that a compentent shop can do it for approx $90 U.S.
