Yes, I concur with what Rick and Doug have said, and was a bit hasty in my original assessment.

: I can't say whether your repairman has cheated you or not. Removing fungus, however, can be extremely difficult, and it can leave your glass permanently, deeply and catastrophically etched even after the fungus has been completely removed. What you still see may not be fungus but the damage left by the fungus, which cannot be repaired except by replacement of the affected part.
: Had it been me, I would have just refused to attempt the job and saved you the $80; but I don't know that I would necessarily blame the repairman for trying to do what you asked.
