Sounds like the usual failure on this model. The apeture stop down solinoid has failed. Athough it can be fixed when parts are available I recommend you upgrade to a later body as the repair runs $70-$80 and you still have a very old camera that may fail in other ways shortly.

My Maxxum 7000 seems to have an exposure problem. All of the pictures come out very dark with or without flash. Could this be a bad exposure meter or something else? I know the camera is old (17 years) but when it works right, the pictures are great. I hate to give up on it. IS there something I can do to save it? Thanks for any input.Mark
