Sure it wasn't a bird:) I don't own one myself, however if you have looked at epinions.com yet you could go there and see if any of the reviewers said anything about the problem.
I checked and they have 40 some reviews for the Sony DSC-S70. If link link doesn't work for some reason just go to www.epinions.com and do a search.
