Its always good to protect your camera's lens w/ a Sky 1a or 1b filter which are almost clear, but tend to warm up outdoor photos as well. Another very useful filter is a polarizing filter which can be adjusted (thru turning)and has the effect of darkening the appearance of the sky, and also dramatically reduces reflections to achieve better outdoor images, straight lines and pictures
when there is lots of glare. Star filters add stars or sparkle to a photo to enhance romantic scenes, or to highlight otherwise ordinary images. There are other filters, suchas Neutral Density in more than one gradient, and various colored filters to achieve special effects, but I
don't have enough experience with them to really discuss them intelligently.
Which filters you choose for regular use will be the product of personal trial and error (your's), but it's fun to experiment, and even more fun when you get a GREAT picture. Good luck!
George
