The way you've described the problem it sounds like the shutter. This would be a serious problem and I would expect the repair to be $150-175. The Minolta factory is NO longer working on that model because of its age.
The 7000 was the first of the AF models and there has been great improvements in later models. Therefore, its my suggestion to pick up a later model Minolta if you have two or more Minolta lenses. If you have only one lens then take a good look at going into Nikon or Canon.
If you decide to get something else then take a good look at a good used Nikon N6006 or N8008. They still have metal in the right places for high durability. A thing missing in most of the newer cameras. And the price is right.
