: I own two Asahi Pentax cameras, both acquired at garage sales. One, is a Spotmatic s/n 2948911, w/all metal film advance lever and 1.4 Super-Takumer 50mm lens. It was made w/o a flash bracket, but I've bought an original bracket w/Asahi Pentax on it.
: The other is an Asahi Pentax K1000 s/n 6193387,with a hot shoe, no self timer, marked "Assembled in Hong Kong". It has a 2.0 SMC Pentax-M 50mm lens.It also has a black plastic end on the film advance lever. Both cameras are mint, and were acquired for about $15.00 each(USD) !!!! I think I did good, but can anyone tell me about how old each camera is, based upon their respective serial numbers? Thank you. George

Spotmatics were made from 1964 to 1974. The original Spotmatic was produced from 64 to 67.
K1000s were made from 1977 to 1998. Can't help you as far as how the serial numbers relate to dates manufactured.
Sounds like good ebay bait :)
