I am not sure why it is called 110 film, maybe someone else knows about that. With the film, manufacturers were able to make smaller cameras that were easier for the average person to load in cartridge form. Guess they felt pocketability and ease of use would sell more film. Kodak still makes 110 film--Fuji discontinued it in 1999.
Pentax and Minolta made some really good 110 cameras, but others are pretty basic. For more information about the film go to:
