My choice in manual focus Canon would be the AE-1 Program. Probably the best manual focus camera Canon ever built. Yet, it still has lots of 'newer' features. The T series, as you discovered, is not as sturdy or reliable. The F series lacks the modern features. The AF bodies will not take your lenses and are far more delicate.
