digital camcorder filter necessary?

Hi,
Just bought a miniDV camcorder. The sales person says I should buy the $200 digital filter kit(UV,ND & FLD)specially made for DIGITAL camcorder/camera instead of the "cheap" ordinary filters that I have been using with analog cameras.
My questions:
1.Do they really make any difference?
2.Are crystal filters much better than the glass ones?
