Hi,
I am trying to make duplicates of colour slides of copy-work made from artwork and printed pictures. I am using a Jessops (UK) slide copying attachment ( a very basic one with a three element fixed F8 lens) with an SLR (Canon EOS 300) camera. This copying attachment came without a diffuser at its head, for which I have substituted a piece of thin white acrylic (2 mm thick sheet). I was wondering if this is an appropriate solution or if there are any better options, given that I live in an area with limited photographic supplies and facilities.
My next two questions are about the lighting used for such photography.
a) What is the ideal distance that should be kept between the camera and the light source for such duplication ?
b) I currently use daylight slide film (Fuji Sensia 100) with reflector bulbs (fitted into the copy stand, 3 on each side), for my copy-work, using a blue (80 A) colour correction filter. The reason for this inconsistency of light and film is that this is the only kind of slide film available in this country. Furthermore, the choice of bulbs available is also limited to those for domestic use. The blue glass daylight bulbs are not available. Available bulbs consist of the following: clear, milky and white household bulbs available in up to a wattage of 200, a range of reflectors both metallic and frosted ones, some halogen (mainly tiny ones), a range of energy saving white and yellow bulbs shaped in coil, sphere or rod formations, and flood lights with rod filaments (used for video-filming).
I require a suggestion as to what is the most suitable form or arrangement of lighting for use with the slide-copying adapter to which I cannot attach a colour correction filter.
