I agree with JohnShaeffer that you can buy a screw mount body and lenses for very low prices. Used prices are driven by demand and the demand for the screw mount is low. My favorite of the screw mount bodies would be the Spotmatic F model, however there are lots of other good screw mount bodies. So if you don't have much money to spend on a system then the screw mounts are something to consider.
However, it would be my recommendation to buy an older Nikon body (FE,FM,EL, etc) and then you'll be buying lenses that will work on a newer body later on if you decide to upgrade. Otherwise, you'll have to replace the lenses when you replace the body.
