: Which mount do you guys see as beeing the best for a manual 35mm SLR camera photographer with a desire to produce a wide variety of photo types?
: Thanks,

The most lenses ever produced were manufactured in the Universal Screw Mount, also known as the M42 mount. There are about a zillion cameras that take this mount, but all of these cameras are at least 20 years old now, with the exception of the lowly Zenit, a Russian made budget SLR, which I would not recommend in its present incarnation.
It is more important to be comfortable with the camera you are going to use and understand how it works. You can always buy an adapter to use just about any lens on any camera. Adapters are widely available for the multitude of screw mount lens for almost any camera, and some manufactures such as Tamron and Vivitar make their lenses so that they can be used with several makes of cameras by purchasing an inexpensive T mount adapter.
