The battery in your camera is located in the front, wind side, of your camera. Do NOT buy the alkaline battery, it does not work properly. Get either the silver or the lithium. Be careful with that little battery door on the front, the latch breaks easily and its VERY expensive to replace.
You'll like the AE-1, it a good quality camera.
