Unfortunately the replyer is correct.
The new EF lens can not fit directly on the older model Canon FD lens mount, however, you could get an "Adapt-All 2" which does work and would allow EF type mount lenses to fit your FD mount.
Also an Adapt-All mount would allow you to fit just about any brand/model of lens to your Canon A1.
We've attached Pentax, Minolta lenses to our A1 with our Adapt-All.
