I have decided to buy a camera. The camera shops I visited suggest choosing either the Nikon N60 or the Canon Rebel 2000. After reading the advice of several people, I think I will choose the Nikon. Now should I buy:

- a Nikon zoom lens (28-80 mm); or
- a little bit more expensive zoom lens by Sigma or Tamron (28-105 mm)

Do the non-original lens work properly? Could I have problems using third party lenses? Do you suggest the Sigma lens or the Tamron lens? Thanks very much for your help.

Nikon lenses are considered to be very good, that is one major reason why a photographer would choose to buy a Nikon camera. If it were me I would choose the Nikon lens, but it depends what you are going to be using it for. If you are going to use it for regular consumer uses, I would get the Sigma or Tamron, because of its flexibility.

Editor's Note: You'll also benefit from visiting Klaus Schroiff's Photo Zone which offers independent information on lens performance, users' lens reviews, camera system evaluations and much more.
