I have a Praktica PM 3 which is similar to your MTL5B. If yours is like mine, you can set it at the little flash symbol that is next to B on the shutter speed dial. If it doesn't have that, you should be able to set it at 125 to synch with the flash. I've tried it at 125, 60 and 30 and it works with each, but I usually just dial to the flash symbol.
