Is there any type of tripod that would allow 2 full size vhs camcorders to be mounted on it. I have seen a homemade adapter that someone made to do this. I coach football and it would be great to be able to run 2 cameras by 1 operator during the game and still get 2 different angles of game action.
Editor's Note: While I don't know of any store-bought tripod adapter which fits your description, it wouldn't be difficult to make such a device from stuff bought at the local hardware store.
A tripod socket accepts a 1/4-20 threaded bolt. The important thing is to limit the depth which the bolt can be screwed into the camera, otherwise you risk screwing the bolt through the bottom of the socket and seriously damaging the camera.
Therefore, use very short 1/4-20 bolts.
With full size VHS camcorders, such a rig would likely be unstable and you'd run the risk of tipping the whole assembly over. Unless it was a very heavy tripod, I'd stick with separate cameras on separate tripods.
