: I own a Canon EOS Rebel II (35mm) camera. I saw I long time ago that a company was working on a digital-film device that could be used in all 35mm cameras. Has anyone heard about such a device?
Silicon Film Technologies which has gone through at least a couple of name changes and company presidents along the way has yet to hit the market with their product (it's been promised for three years) and the conventional wisdom is that it will probably never happen. Additionally the resolution for their device is less than that found in many $500-$600 digital cameras now being sold. (Last time I heard, they were proposing to charge about $800 for this digital film cassette so it's easy to see why this idea will probably never leave the starting gate. Also, the area captured by their proposed product is much smaller than the area seen in the typical 35mm viewfinder so how are you going to judge what you managed to photograph and what was left out.
