: Who can suggest a B/W 35 mm enlarger which will be used at the high school level. I have a number of old Vivitars but can't find replacement parts. I would like suggestions on replacement enlargers. Cost is a factor but they need to stand up to wear and tear. Thank you.
I would recommend the Omega C-700 condenser enlarger. This unit will accept both 35mm and medium format negatives and is built very durably. The condenser light head produces very sharp prints. Plus, the company has been around for many years. I learned B&W printing in high school 30 years ago on an Omega. It got its share of hard knocks and kept on going. You can get one new for about $350 (which includes one negative carrier and one lens). Since these enlargers are built very well, you might want to look for a used one if you want to save a few bucks.
