If you use a slower film, you can get a nice effect by selecting a moderate shutter speed and panning with a car as it goes by, blurring the background into streaks for an impression of speed. With 800 speed film on a sunny day this would be almost impossible as you're stuck at f/16 at 1/1000 just to get a picture. I'd try a 200 or 400 speed and see if you like it. You'll also get finer grain and better color saturation, allowing bigger enlargements.
