What do you mean by inadequate? Resolution (ppi) may or may not be a problem depending on the target output. If resolution because of the smaller format is the reason, then you would need to look for a higer resolution scanner.

If you mean the 110 and 126 negatives won't fit you film holder, there are several options. I have scanned 110 and Minox 8 x 11mm formats by simply mounting negatives in 2 x 2 slide mounts and using the scanners options for scanning slides. 126 format is actually 2mm larger than the short side of 35mm format so you would loose those 2mm.

A better option is to fabricate a mask to hold the negative strips in a film holder. See http://www.bayarea.net/~ramarren/photostuff/scanmask/scan-mask.html for a suggestion. This site contains a simple plan for the Minox mask, but a similar design will work for other formats.

Basically any format smaller than the 35mm format can be scanned in this manner if the resulting resolution is satisfactory.

Thanks. By inadequate I actually mean two things: One - the quality of my scans are degraded compared to the negative mainly due to the small size - when enlarging they begin to lose substantial quality; second - many of these were taken with lower light (or have lost it during time) so they tend to be much darker than 35mm slides I scan.

I have tried the Polaroid slide scanner with not much better results. I was hoping to find some equipment which would provide a better light source to enhance the quality. Projecting my 35mm slides on a standard slide projector shows a decent quality picture, but, alas, with the scanner's slide adapter the slides suffer. Mostly that's true for the 110 negatives as well.
