: I recently bought a new 35mm Nikon with a Tamron 35-300 lens which uses a 72mm filter ring. I plan on purchasing the usual needed filters and was wondering if anyone uses or can give me info on Quantaray brand filters (sold by Ritz Camera). Are they as good as Tiffen or Hoya? I was told they are manufactured by Hoya?

I do not know who makes the Quantaray filters for Ritz.
I only know that Sigma makes the Quantaray lenses for Ritz.
In term of filters, there is no ultra sophisticated optical science on them.
I always try to buy Tiffen, Hoya, B&W, Heliopan, Lee, Singh-Ray, Howard Ross, or Cokin; but at times you are forced to buy whatever they have at the only store in town. So I have purchased Marumi filters and other little known brands without any noticeable difference in the outcome.
Have a great time.
