I have an old Canon EF camera and have not so long ago discovered some discrepancies in the focus system. When I focus through a viewfinder on an object which is (according to my eyes) 5m away, I read on the lens distance scale that the object is 10m away (sometimes infinity). I need advise of someone more experienced with photography: do I have to be guided only by the viewfinder and not by the lense distance scale in this case? Or should I disregard focusing through a viewfinder and use lens's distance scale guided by my eyes' estimation?
Thank you.
